This little darling Kitty is my superhero this month. She fell into my lap and brought me a lot of happy thoughts right when I needed them most. January is supposed to be the start of a new year, new goals, and new acommplishments. For some reason, my January was filled with problems and drama, making it almost impossible to think about what I wanted most to achieve this year. (Less stress in my life, more time for the kids, more money in my savings account, be more involved in school, building my business, relaxing, less anxiety, etc……) HA, that seemed like a joke this month, but in the end I did come to realize that maybe the drama was caused more by the way I deal with problems, then the actual problems themselves. Because in the end, I managed to achieve a more relaxing schedule, and better behaved children by just being patient, and taking on one problem at a time.
I tend to overthink everything. I mean everything. Anxiety is sometimes my middle name. Well ok it is my middle name when too many things come flying at me. I have a tendency to feel overwhelmed, and want to fix everything right then and there. I am a good problem solver. It’s just that some problems cannot be solved at that very moment. Sometimes you have to ask for help. Sometimes you have to bend over backwards, when you don’t think you should. Sometimes you just have to wait. So whether dealing with my son’s grumpiness, bad grades, temper tantrums, and teacher or my daughter’s whininess, birthday party, or defiance, patience was the key to success this month ……
So what does Hello Kitty have to do with it? Well she became our birthday theme this year, which ended up being the best thing that could have happened to me. Frozen was what my little girl wanted, and I knew that meant designing our own cake, ordering a cake topper online. Lots of unnecessary stress and lots of planning. Since Olivia was sick the week before her birthday party, I ended up having way too many things on my TODO List. Birthday parties are not really my thing, and I felt overwhelmed and unsure of what I was going to do next. The moment Olivia chose a HELLO KITTY birthday cake finding all kinds of goodies in pink and red was so so easy, and my workload was cut into half. I actually had fun putting together her party, and watching our house fill up with Hello Kitty decorations put a smile on everyone’s face. I even managed to make her a cute little birthday outfit.
It may have been too expensive, and more stress then I really needed, but Olivia had a great Birthday. The family had a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, we cannot wait to go bowling again as a family. We met some new friends, and had fun with some old ones. I hope everyone will remember it for years to come. In the end, that is all that counts.
